My name is Linda Sawyer-Evans. I have been married to my husband, Rick since March 1986 and have two children, Stephen (born 1987) and Charlotte (born 1989). My daughter Charlotte has been married since January 2011 and in May of 2012 blessed us with our first grandchild, a boy named Robert (Bobby).
I have had the opportunity to sing on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York City, as well as Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. through my church choir, the Pittsburg Presbyterian Church.
I attended Pittsburg State University (PSU) from Fall 1981 - Spring 1987, majoring in Vocal and Instrumental (Flute) Education while minoring in Keyboard. I returned to finish my bachelors degree Fall of 1999 and graduated December 2001. A Masters Degree in Educational Technology was earned from PSU in May 2003 and a Masters Degree in Vocal Music Education was earned August 2012, also from PSU. I have taught as an adjunct professor at Neosho County Community College in the music department.
I have been teaching grades 6 -12 Bands, Choirs, Music Appreciation (Jr. High and H.S.) since August 2002. It is my desire to teach students to appreciate all forms of music, not necessarily to love a specific kind of music, but to appreciate what has gone into the creation of each piece of music of the past, present, and of future music. Students and audience members may not like or approve of specific pieces that are being prepared and performed, if you find that you are thinking this about the music, please contact me and I will be more than willing to discuss the music educational aspects of each piece.
The professional organizations that I belong are:
NAfME (formerly Music Educators National Conference) National Association for Music Educators
KMEA (Kansas Music Educators Education Association)
KANAAE (Kansas Association of American Educators)
KBA (Kansas Bandmasters Association)
ACDA (American Choral Directors Association)
SAI (Sigma Alpha Iota)
I have been asked what my goals or plans are for the future of the music department at Frontenac. I have several goals, but I continue to change and improve upon each goal according to the talent of each individual student in the program:
I welcome e-mails, visits, or phone calls if you have any questions or concerns.

I have been asked what my goals or plans are for the future of the music department at Frontenac. I have several goals, but I continue to change and improve upon each goal according to the talent of each individual student in the program:
- That students grow to appreciate all music, no matter the genre
- That students grow musically through each and every piece practiced and performed
- To see the community of Frontenac and the school take pride in the music department, much as they do for other school organizations
- To see the music boosters grow and become a viable support group for the music department
- To take the H.S. choirs and/or Band on a tour
